MATTERIALISTA | Berlin, 2025
MATTERIALISTA is an open resource for interior designers and material enthusiasts. Filled with sustainable, circular or biobased samples, a calm atmosphere ensures a very personal and special experience where visitors feel like they are entering their own library.
The focal point is two second-hand plywood islands complete with drawers. Casters were added to enable easy reconfiguring of the space. 100% recycled plastic worktops finish the islands beautifully, and are ideal for creating moodboards from samples. The original island worktops (felt-topped MDF) were wrapped in natural linen to create functional pinboards. The shelves were sourced locally from a private individual, slightly altered and painted in eco friendly lacquer.
The design studio comprises locally-sourced furniture—a large table, aluminium pendants lamps, and metal shelving. Storage cabinets were updated with bespoke tray-tops and handles from 100% recycled plastic. Italian-made chairs needed cleaning after 20 years, and we also removed faux leather upholstery. The stunning plywood was sanded and finished with eco-friendly lacquer.
